Maureen Morris

Maureen Morris of Atlin, BC has developed a very unique craft with her strong and graceful bird forms. Maureen demonstrates beautifully the carver’s unique ability to see one form inside another. A graduate of the Vancouver School of Art, Maureen initially came to the North to carve jade. However, after settling into the Northern British Columbia community of Atlin, she soon became fascinated with the potential of antler as a carving medium. Working with the material, and the lines and shapes of the antler itself, Maureen carves out an intriguing array of falcons, owls, long-neck egrets, swans and fish, as she finds their graceful lines and curves most appealing.
